Hi, I’m Tess Bradley – a haircutting specialist in Ferndale, MI.
In 2000, after being told by a misguided guidance counselor not to go to beauty school, I did what any angsty 16-year-old would do—I enrolled that same day. I instantly knew I’d found my people and my passion.
I began my career in East Lansing spending 15 years focused on haircutting, developing an eye for strong shapes, face-framing fringes, and razor cutting techniques. I also kept expanding my skills to understand how to work with all hair textures in their natural state, from coily and curly to ultra-straight. After removing perms, chemical straightening and keratin treatments from my service menu I learned to guide clients in simple healthy hair routines that embrace your personal beauty.
Since late 2020 I’ve happily a part of the talented team at Mint Hair Crafting, an inclusive, affirming salon proudly listed on the Strands for Trans map. After moving to Ferndale, MI, I also expanded into offering simple hair color services—think lived-in low maintenance blonding, adding a bold color block and gentle, damage-free glazes.
Since hair health has been a passion of mine for many moons I have been so pumped to expand my service offering to include headspa treatments at Melt Headspa by Mint Hair Crafting. This hour long relaxing scalp and hair ritual is performed in a private room with relaxed lighting, chill beats and a cozy heated blanket. Designed to help you unwind, reset, and support you and your hair’s overall well-being, this has quickly grown to be a favorite service for both me and my clients.
My chair is a no-judgment zone where all I welcome all kinds of people to relax and be themselves. Don’t have time to wash and style your curls before your curly cut - no problem. No matter if you’re in your sweats or dressed to the nines, feeling secure in how you present yourself or looking to explore something new I am down to help you on your journey. I love to care for and celebrate people of many different races, hair textures, sizes, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
